Thinking, analyzing, inventing . . . are not anomalous acts; they are the normal respiration of the intelligence. To glorify the occasional performance of that function, to hoard ancient and alien thoughts, to recall with incredulous stupor that the doctor universalis thought, is to confess our laziness or our barbarity.
Last night, Kevin & Danielle & I attended the AIGA gala auction event dealy at The Galleria. The space was nice. I especially liked the industrial, hangar-type structure and the hard wood flooring on the stage.
The whole thing was focused around these munnies that had been decorated by different designers. They were up for silent auction. The opening bid on all of 'em was $50. We just looked. This one, by Luis Pena, is my favorite:
I really like that phoenixY bird.
Here are some other good ones:
I liked these best because they didn't look a whole lot like something I'd seen before. All the other munnies were like, "The iPod Munny", "The Japanese Munny", "The Mickey Mouse Munny", "The Political Statement Munny", "The Fabergé Munny". They're designers, not illustrators, but still. I prefer for people to bring something new to the form rather than regurgitating that cool visual style from the 1950s that they've always aped. At least there was no Mondrian Munny. **shudder**
The DJ brought the booty-shakin' tunes. He was all classically turntablist, what with big vinyl records and some scratching and everything. No one else was dancing. At all. Most of the space was far too crowded for dancing, but with swingin' beats, you have to at least bop a limb around. The DJ's friend sold me a CD. I haven't listened to it yet, cuz I'm too tired in the morning to shake my booty.
Oh! And I won two candy bars at the ring toss game. One is taffy, so I probly won't eat it. The other, tho, is made by Necco (whom I'd assumed only make wafers) and has four different kinds of sweets in little chocolate blocks: vanilla, caramel, fudge & peanut. Yum!
This is oh, so pretty. I didn't bother with a screen shot because its beauty comes from the fact that it's a graph of my vox blog, which is part of this whole social network that is constantly changing and growing and doing wonderful things. I love just sitting and watching the points blossom.

Mildly amusing for seconds at a time!
In the grand tradition of image manipulation, the Internet, and blogs -- I present my morning's Photoshop work: Silent Garfield.
I plan to waste more time on this in the future.
Updates will be posted directly to my Photobucket account and not here.
